School Opening/Closing Times for This School Year

For the 2021-2022 school year, start and ending times for each school will return to the pre-COVID schedule, and middle and high schools will return to a 7-period schedule. Manor Woods will have an 8:45 am start time and a 3:15 pm dismissal.

HCPSS Updates Related to Lunch Protocols

To further reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19, all schools will have outdoor eating spaces for lunch available on campus for student use as weather and staffing permits to lessen the number of students in the cafeteria. To maintain a healthy environment in cafeterias, the following actions are being implemented:

  • Additional tables have been ordered and will be distributed to schools to help ensure outside eating areas are furnished and to allow maximum spacing indoors.

  • Based on the availability of products from vendors, large tents that are compliant with local code will be provided to elementary schools to increase outdoor dining spaces.

  • Plexiglass shields for indoor cafeteria tables are being secured for grades K-5. These panels will provide additional protection between students while eating when masks cannot be worn.

  • We also have our cafeteria tables for use with indoor seating. This means that even if all students eat indoors, our tables will still seat only up to 16 students. We will be spreading our students out to eat as much as possible.

If your student needs to eat outside at ALL times, due to health concerns (unless weather indicates otherwise) please email carol_debord@hcpss.org or jennifer_zinn@hcpss.org

How do I ensure my child is ready for school each day?

It is imperative, for the safety of all, to provide your child with a well-check before sending them to school daily. Please access the following:

Please send your child with the following items:

  • MASKS (We do have masks if your child forgets)
  • A small towel for outdoor seating and mask breaks
  • H20 bottle
  • Fully charged laptop, charger and headphones

Children exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 may not attend school and must be kept home.

Parents/guardians should keep their children home if they are experiencing symptom(s) associated with any communicable disease, including COVID-19. In addition, parents/guardians are to perform the following COVID-19 health check every day before the student leaves home.

A student should NOT come to school with any of these symptoms:

  • fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • difficulty breathing
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • new onset of severe headache (especially with fever), or
  • new loss of taste or smell

For persons with chronic conditions such as asthma, the symptoms should represent a change from baseline.

Can we volunteer at school?

For the first month of school, until our routines are established, we will not be using parent volunteers and not having visitors at the building.
