A Note From Our Administrators

Dear Manor Woods Community,

Happy PRIDE!

The Howard County Public School System will host its first ever Pride Week June 6-12. All activities will be open to the community.

The week will kick off with readings by student authors who have been published in Rainbow Vision, a student-generated literary magazine featuring written material that has an LGBTQIA+ focus and is written by LGBTQIA+ authors and allies. The magazine provides students with an outlet to raise their voices and share experiences in a creative way through art, music, photography and the written word.

"This is a great opportunity for our aspiring writers to share their thoughts and be heard and supported by others," Danielle DuPuis, advisor for Rainbow Vision and media specialist at Hammond High School, said.

Pride Week programs include an author book-reading, movie nights, fundraisers at Main Event and Shake Shack, family hikes at the Howard County Conservancy and a community clean-up event at Centennial Park.

"HCPSS Pride Week provides voluntary opportunities to meet up and have fun in a variety of supportive, affirming environments, depending on the participant's comfort level," DuPuis said.

Additional information about HCPSS Pride Week, including links to register for each event, can be found online.

Thank You,

5th Grade Farewell

A Note From Mrs. Hoskins

Dear Manor Woods students and families-

It is with mixed emotions that I would like to share news of my upcoming retirement.  It has been my greatest pleasure to teach art to Howard County students for 37 years, and here at Manor Woods for 28 of those years. I’ve learned so much and have been fortunate to have worked with amazing teachers, administrators, and staff who always put children first.  I am looking forward to having more time for making art, teaching yoga, travel, and family.  I wish you all well!

With fondness and deep appreciation-

Mrs. Hoskins

The Howard County Library System

The Howard County Library System loves connecting with students, families and staff at your school!

We are eager for families to know all the free, fun, and excellent enrichment they can get at the Library this summer. We've attached a summer reading promotional toolkit, with newsletter and social media content pre-written (English and Spanish) and a great video. Please click here to view promotional toolkit and click here for more details.

We are working to increase summer reading participation and support students having a literacy-rich break. Every elementary student will receive a paper gameboard through their media specialist during a presentation on HCLS summer reading.  We hope your students read all summer and complete the game!  In the fall, we will give every school that achieves 15% completion a certificate and additional recognition.
