                      A Note From Our Administrators

Dear Manor Woods Community,

We would like to take this time to acknowledge our PTA for their hard work this year. The last two years were full of twists and turns as we navigated Covid, and the limits put on our community and school-wide events. Together with the administrative team, our PTA thought outside of the box to continue providing us with activities and support.

Throughout the year, we had PTA monthly meetings where Mrs. Marva Booth, President, moved us along with the help of the board and our committee chairs. We would like to acknowledge Mrs. Booth and the PTA executive board for their hard work, flexibility, and willingness to do what is right for children. They worked hard to provide for the students, organizing a fun movie night, a Duck Dash, Book Club, and a Duck Disco among other things. We are so appreciative of our group of volunteers!  They worked well together and provided wonderful opportunities for students and staff alike.

As we move forward into next year, it is our hope to invite more and more families into the building to volunteer, read, and work with our students. Community is important in the success of our school. We have a collaborative community, and we encourage you to support the PTA and the school as we move into the 22-23 school year.

Thank You,

Carol DeBord
Principal

Important Information

MCAP Testing - Grades, 3, 4, and 5

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that states administer annual state assessments to all students in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in grades 3-8 and once in high school.

Manor Woods students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) in both ELA and math.  The MCAP provides information to educators, parents, and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.  For more information, visit https://www.hcpss.org/academics/testing/mcap/.

The MCAP assessment window is Monday, April 25 - Friday, June 3.  Parents of students in grades 3, 4, and 5 received a Canvas message from your child’s teacher regarding specific testing dates for your child’s grade level.  Please make every effort to have your child attend school on testing days and to refrain from scheduling any appointments during these times.  There is no need to study for the MCAP.  To prepare, have your child get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time.

MAP Home Reports - Grades 1-5

PDF copies of MAP spring home reports are now available in ParentVue.  Instructions for access are here: https://help.hcpss.org/grades-testing/fall-2020-MAP-scores
